Margate:
A water front rural town with views of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel located on Tasmania’s southern coast, Margate is just 16 minutes drive south from the state capital Hobart.
With a growing local community, Margate is one of the fastest expanding areas in the Kingborough Municipality. It is the gateway to the Channel area with towns south including Coningham, Snug, Woodbridge and Kettering which has the terminal for the Bruny Island Ferry. Margate is also on the Huon Trail Tourism Map which includes tourism icons such as Hastings Caves, Tahune Forest Air Walk, Bruny Island and many vineyards.
Dru Point Park located on the waters edge in Margate is very popular with families, the park offers several covered BBQ facilities, enclosed playgrounds, traffic light bike riding area, kiosk and beautiful picnic areas which are all surrounded by the waters and wetlands of North West Bay which are home to varied bird life.
Margate offers a Post Office, service station, newsagent, butcher, chemist, hairdressers, food outlets, tavern, vineyard dining, restaurant, local store, native plant nursery, hardware and professional offices.
Margate living ranges from almost complete beach/water front properties through to your small hobby farm on acreage.
Major shopping facilities are located a short 5 minute drive to Kingston, Huntingfield and Blackmans Bay.
